The Scarlet A
Shawn, I am sorry for cheating on you. I will hopefully never have to go to another hair salon again. Curl Up and Dye left a lot to be desired when compared to Gould's. First, I will compare ambience:
Gould's: Spacious, free standing, wooden stations, offered a drink when you sit down, nice real plants, painted walls
Curl Up and Dye: Individual cubicles, fake, purple stucco walls, pictures of Merna (my girl's) kids, cousins, and insurance agent posted on wall behind me (which was two feet from my face and I had to face)
Next, Hair Wash:
G: John, the hair wash guy, is like a massage therapist of the scalp. The hair washing part is absolute heaven.
CUAD: Let's just say she had really long fingernails.
Product:
G: I leave and I feel like my hair smells very expensive.
CUAD: My hair smells like a mixture between Love's Baby Soft, and Off (like the bug repellent)
The Cut:
G: Shawn is a miracle worker. When I went in and aked for 10 inches cut off, he made me look like I was meant to have ear length hair.
CUAD: I will let you know once it has dried.
I think that has been the hardest part of moving from home. Not being lonely, not getting lost, but not having that loyal hairdresser with his scissors in hand ready to make me feel like a million bucks.
I think that our past weekend was better told in pictures, so enjoy without having my commentary:

I could not even do what you just did! I still travel 550 miles to go back and get my hair cut and colored by Susan who has been doing my hair since 8th grade! I stepped out of the box once in Starkville, I was left with orange highlights. I believe you were there to see that at Mount Eagle (on that long ass hike where we got lost)and (we had to take time out during the day to reflect). ANYWAY just schedule your appointments anytime you go home!

I don't know what I will do when that ugly day comes and I will have to leave Haley at The Red Door. I don't even know what her last name is, but she is a major staple in my life.
I understand completely.
Pam, the loyal lady in Starkville that has done my eyebrows since I was 14, is the only person who can get the arch just right.
My eyebrows haven't looked the same since the move.
It's so hard when you move off and have to find new places. When I moved to ATL I was shocked to have to pay $30 for a haircut...I was so used to going back to Madison to pay $12 from the lady that had cut my hair since I was 5. Needless to say, I don't go back home for the haircut, b/c I like the girl that cuts my hair now, but I cringe every time I have to pay her.
I loved the pictures of your weekend. If Luke ever decides to quit his current job - he looks like he'd fit right in at the local BP station! haha!

So I've been "dyeing" to know...how did your hair turn out?? I agree though, you should def. schedule more appointments here with your regular man...that way you can come back to Memphis soon!!!!
2 comments...i need to move to Atlanta if it only costs $30 for a hair cut. The best price i've found in Nashville is $55...that's just for a cut!
