The Life of a Housewife!

Until I start work, I have really enjoyed being a housewife! I am definitely ready for a change of pace, though. I have surprised myself, and Luke, and have become a really good chef. Hopefully, we won't gain too much weight before I see yall again! I am making poppyseed chicken tonight, my favorite meal from KD sit-down. Luke's mom gave me the recipe at one of my showers. Thank you Ms. Amy! Yum Yum! This year, my grandmother, great-aunt, two aunts, mom, sister, and I are all reading through the Bible. I am so excited because I have always wanted to accomplish this, and when you have others doing it too, it makes you more accountable. I have enjoyed it so far, and hopefully will continue throughout the year. Thanks Nana! Also in from the press, my friend/old roomie, Heather, has recently started a blog. Check her out!We lived together for two years in college, and she got married last June. She lives in Hattiesburg now, and I miss her! Luke and I have joined a church called Green Acres Baptist. Luke visited here before I moved, and the first time I visited I knew it was home. The sanctuary is exactly like Germantown Baptist's. It is almost creepy how much they look alike. When we went to the new member's dinner last Sunday, we were talking to the preacher, and he said that they visited GBC when they were working on floor plans. I knew it! We have been going to a Sunday school class that is people our age, newly married, and a few couples have kids. We visited several classes before we found this one, and we love it! We went to a party at the teacher's house on Saturday night, and met so many new people. We have really been praying that God would give us couple friends to hang out with. It is still weird to me to be able to go to Target and not know a soul in the store. It was weird being a "grown-up" and taking a dish and all of that jazz. I am so glad I had Luke there to go with me! We are going over to one of the couple's house this Thursday for dinner, and another couple got our number so we could hang out this weekend. I definitely think we are going to be voted Class Favorite (yall know how I love superlatives!) We have also started taking disco dancing lessons. Check us out! I want to say Happy Birthday to my cute little brother, Blake! He turned 19 on the 28th! I think that is all of our news that is news. It is so cold here, and I am ready for the spring. I hope that everyone has a wonderful week, and I hope to see you soon! Love!

Our First Post

Now that we are getting settled in the great state of Texas, we thought this would be a great way to keep all of our family and friends updated on what is going on in our lives. So here we go! We have really enjoyed our first month+ of being married. I have gotten us unpacked and semi-organized, and I think Luke is glad I am here. Bandit (our precious dog) has adapted well. He loves to sit on the balcony and annoy anyone that walks by, and Luke has really gotten him in line. Yesterday, we bundled up and went to a nearby park. They have a 1.25 mile trail through the woods, and Bandit loved being outside. It was also nice for me to get out into the fresh air for a while. We have had cold weather and ice, so going outside has been kept to a minimum. Luke's job is still going well. He really enjoys being at the shop here. I am so thankful that he enjoys his job! I recently got a job at East Texas Medical Center. It is one of the "big" hospitals here in Tyler. I went to a review session for my boards last week, and I am ready to have them over with! I have run into a few problems getting registered because I have changed states and names since I graduated, but I will hopefully be able to take them soon! The floor I am working on is pediatrics/bariatrics. I had no idea what bariatrics was, and come to find out it is gastric bypass surgery patients. I toured the floor (16 beds), and I think I will really like it. They cross-train the nurses to do OB, so hopefully I will be able to get my foot in the door there! I start February 14, so say a little prayer for me that day!
