Animal House

Yea for birthdays! My bday was last Thursday, and I have to admit I was kinda dreading my first "grown-up" birthday. Every year up until now, I had woken up to balloons, streamers, cake, the whole bit, whether I was at home, or living in the sorority house. Birthdays are a big deal in my family, and among my friends. In fact, I kinda pride myself on remembering everyone's birthdays. I knew that to boys (my husband) birthdays were not a big deal. I was trying not to disappoint myself, but once again Luke shone threw! When I got home from work, he had this arrangement set up and he and Bandit were singing. Sunflowers are my favorite flowers, sushi is my favorite food, and who doesnt love a gift? Luke had given me several clues about my present, but I had no idea what it was...I was a little nervous b/c he was so excited about it, but when I found out what it was, I jumped for joy.
2 tickets to Gwen Stefani in Dallas!!!
I love her!!! And how freakin cool is my husband? We also were able to go to Memphis that afternoon. Luke had take off work early (does he deserve brownie points or what), so we were able to make it home by midnight. My mom has seen me on every single birthday since I was born. Not a big deal one might think. We have met in hotel rooms, restaurants, and everywhere in between the last five years. A 6.5 hour drive has been our biggest obstacle. But at 11:35 when I walked in my front door, I was greeted by more singing (Mom, Dad, Blake, and Bandit) and this awesome cake. It is a castle with Disney princesses. and it was ICE CREAM!! Yum Yum Yum! I also wanted to tell all my friends and family I appreciate the calls, emails, and blog shout outs! Yall are the best! Luke and I had a wonderful weekend in Memphis. My mom's dog, Gloria, had puppies over spring break. They are adorable. If anyone wants one, they are free to a good home. She had 8 and is a wonderful Mama. She is also smart! She took half of them to one side of the garage and nursed them, rested, and then went and nursed the rest. Look at those adorable faces!I wish we had a yard so we could take one! Friday night, we ate dinner at Daddy Doc and Granny T's for my and DDoc's bdays. His is the 6th. He made melt-in-your-mouth steaks! Luke and I were supposed to meet up with some of my high school friends downtown, but Luke didn't have his id. :( In Texas, when you apply for a driver's license, they take your old one and mail you a Texas one. Until the new one comes in, they give you a slip of paper that doesn't have your birthday on it. I was so disappointed I wasn't able to see them. We always have so much fun when we do get together! We were able to meet up with his mom and sister on Saturday for lunch which was a treat! I got some shopping done (I got my first "real" paycheck on Friday and felt the need to spend some of it on something other than bills!) We also met up with two of our "couple friends", Josh and Jessica & Darrow and Sissy. We had such a wonderful time eating and catching up. It is always wonderful to be able to see familiar faces that we enjoy so much. Josh and Jessica live in Marion, AR, and Darrow and Sissy live in Olive Branch, MS. Neither place is very far from Memphis, so I think Luke is looking forward to moving back so he can hang out with his buddies! Our Easter morning was cold, but fun. Easter is one of my favorite holidays because it is so amazing. I love the story of the last supper, and the crucifixion, but what truly gets me is the resurrection. I wish I had been there so see Jesus' empty tomb and the events that followed. Can you imagine what was going through his followers heads? They were devastated at the tragedy of his death, and awed by his prescence afterwards. All I can say is Amazing! I feel that Easter was put on the calendar in the perfect season, with everything new and blooming. I hope that everyone had a happy Easter with their families and friends. Here are some pics from our day:

FINALLY! I have missed your blogging.

Love the bunny. We once had a bunny that Kristen's High School boyfriend won for her at the Neshoba County Fair. His name was Michelin (like the tire) and he was a spawn of the devil. I hope Muffin is better.

Last year was my first birthday to not be with my family or friends. I cried the whole day. Trey tried, but it was his first time to experience it. Better luck to him this year.

I expect a party.
