We had a lovely Pooh Bear party for our sweet little three year old Kate last weekend! The weather was perfect, and she is still talking about it, so I would say it was a success. Yall know how much I love planning parties for my kids, and this one was so much fun! I think it was because she “got” it. Every day beforehand, she would say, “Let’s talk about…my pooh party!” We would go through all the details and she would add some too! I went to Goodwill and bought several Pooh books. I printed the invitation info on vellum and attached to a page of the book.
We had our party at my parents’ house behind the barn. It was the perfect place for the Hundred Acre Wood!
My mom made a delicious almond pound beehive cake! That is dirt cake with carrot cookies in front!
Piglets in a blanket
We had hunny and peanut butter & hunny and nutella sanwiches.
We also had owl cupcakes and veggies from Rabbit’s garden.
The hunny pot cake pops were not as hard as I thought they would be…Luke might have a different opinion! He and his sister hand painted each one to say Hunny! That’s a devoted dad and aunt right there! This was the favor table. I had “carrot” bags with orange puffs, candy from the pinata, and “hunny” gak type stuff. We made it that morning, and Kate has loved playing with it!
I became slightly obsessed with finding hunny bear bottles to drink out of. An organic farm in Frayser let me purchase these from them! Looking forward to seeing them with their produce at the Agricenter this summer!
Now that Kate is a Big Girl, I tried to think of some fun games to play! We had everyone meet up at the house…(so sweet to see her excited about her school friends!)
And we played a little game of dropping the hunny bees into the hunny pot.
Preston thought they were hot, so he blew on them!
Then, I had my awesome, kindergarten teacher/sister, aka Aunt Meme, read the kids a story about Eeyore losing his tail. (Party in the Wood)
Then the kids went on a scavenger hunt to find the things in the book that the friends suggested he use for a new tail! Pinecones…
A yoyo…
A red scarf…
A balloon…
and an umbrella.
By this time we were right by the barn, and guess who was there…with his tail!?
Eeyore!!
After that, we broke the beehive pinata that I made (this started the whole Pooh bear/bee idea!)…
The carrot bat wasnt quite strong enough…
Then we sang Happy Birthday,
Enjoyed some yummy food…
And drank some hunny!
Dont my friends make beautiful babies?!
Instead of presents for Kate, we collected books for a Title One kindergarten class. We so much appreciate everyone helping us share our love of reading with others!
It was an absolutely perfect day with my three year old little girl!!
